SECRET WATER CAMP 2026 (a TARS event hosted by Birch Hall Adventures)

Come and join us for our Secret Water Camp hosted by Birch Hall Adventures (an outdoor activity centre), situated on Goblin Creek (Kirby Backwaters). There are wonderful views looking out towards the Secret Water (West Water) and Harwich. We will have sole use of the centre for the week and adventures will include lots of time on the water including sailing around the islands, seal watching, and picnicking at Flint Island (Stone Point). Excitingly there will be an opportunity to sail Nancy Blackett, who will be with us for the week.

On-the-land activities will include a guided walk of the Arthur Ransome Way where we will visit both Pin Mill and Shotley (going over to Harwich for those that wish!), as well as geocaching along the Sea Wall around Hamford Water, and the inaugural crossing of the Red Sea (The Wade). Birch Hall Adventures will also be on hand for further activities such as climbing and archery. There will be an extra charge for these payable on the day.

We will have many an evening around the camp fire; one of which will feature a reading from Secret Water by the infamous Chris Opperman (he’s also promised to lead us in some sea shanties!). Our Quizmaster is also already preparing an evening of questions so get swatting now!

Please note that bunkhouse spaces are limited so these will be offered out on a first come first served basis. The rooms are made up of triple bunkbeds.
Due to the geography of the area, private boat launching will need to be organised at the local marina (Titchmarsh). This will take place at high water and the boats will need to be kept in the water for the week. Please note that an extra charge may be incurred for this.
We are planning to have a BBQ on Wednesday 29th July. This will be provided for by Birch Hall Adventures @ £8 per adult & £5 per child. If you would like to be included please make your choice above. Please note that this is just to give us an indication and you will be able to confirm and pay at a later stage.
